In order to coordinate one campus digestive medicine research and join the clinical research teams of the three affiliated hospitals, the center has become a comprehensive and forward-looking digestive medicine research team.
The digestive system includes the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and other organs, and is one of the most important organ systems in the human body. Digestive system diseases also include infection, immunity, nutrition, cancer and other related diseases.

Past
In the past, the field of gastroenterology was divided into gastroenterology, gastrointestinal surgery, and colorectal surgery. In terms of age, it is also divided into pediatric gastroenterology and adult gastroenterology.
Due to advancements in diagnosis and treatment techniques
Due to changes in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery have also entered the field of minimally invasive treatments. Therapeutic divisions of the past are becoming increasingly similar. Therefore, gastroenterology/surgery and colorectal surgery are integrated and connected with pediatric and adult gastrointestinal surgery. Continuity of treatment in the department is very important.
Future
Currently, one hospital and three affiliated hospitals have their own characteristics in clinical diagnosis, treatment and research of digestive system diseases. In the future, if we can integrate the human resources and resources of the three hospitals affiliated with the university, we can explore new research areas, improve research quality, integrate with international standards, and provide better medical services. Special services and becoming an international digestive medicine research center are important goals for the development of the school.
